Fancy soup? You will love this giveaway – presented by Philips
Those of you who have been following FooDiva for a little while, will know I am a huge fan of Philips’ kitchen goods thanks to its AirFryer (fries can indeed be healthy!) and Avance juicer, so with its new SoupMaker launching this week, the generous folks at Philips are giving away not just one but two just for you!
FooDiva’s a sucker for soups – we may live in a damn hot climate but oh my with airconditioning, I am always freezing and forever tempted to order soup off a menu or make it at home. So no one’s more excited than me to put the SoupMaker to the test – let’s see how it fares…
As you can see here from this photo it looks like a large kettle with a stainless steel jar. Simply throw in your ingredients, and there’s a 22-strong recipe book included to inspire.
One of FooDiva’s favourite soups is broccoli, hugely in season now, with stilton. So in goes chopped broccoli and spring onions to deepen the flavour, crumbled stilton and cold vegetable stock with a little seasoning. An indicator on the inner side helpfully shows the maximum level for ingredients. Close the lid which has the blending blade attached, select the smooth soup setting and press the start button. 23 minutes later the timer beeps and you have your own hot and steamy home-made soup with enough to feed four! The soup will keep warm for forty minutes so you can prepare in advance. Anyhow as we well know to ensure maximum flavour, soups are best made a day in advance – great for dinner party planning. A heads up, the stainless steel jug can get quite hot so mind those fingers.
There’a also a chunky soup programme which worked well for a Thai-style lemongrass infused chicken, carrot and sweetcorn soup FooDiva made. If that wasn’t enough you also have three additional options for compotes, smoothies and a normal blender – all with hot and cold variations. Hence the SoupMaker Cook & Blend branding.
The lid with blade is pretty easy to hand wash – however you have to be careful with the jug as thanks to the heating element, you can’t have too much water splashing round. A little fiddly for sure and sadly not dishwasher-friendly. But other than that, it’s a fabulous kitchen tool that takes the fuss out of concocting soup – easy peasy and fun! So has FooDiva convinced you? If so, here’s your chance to win a couple!
FooDiva Friends in Dubai, we have two SoupMakers to give away – all you need to do is tell us your favourite soup. Leave your answer as a comment on this post AND using the submission form below. You can increase your chances of winning by also Liking and commenting on my Facebook page, following me on Twitter and retweeting my tweet, plus following me on Pinterest. The giveaway competition closes on Monday 19th November when the clock strikes midnight, and two winners will be picked randomly (through random.org) on Tuesday 20th November. Remember to leave your email so we can notify you – you’ll have 24 hours to claim your prize otherwise we’ll have to select another winner.
And if you’re not so lucky, the Philips SoupMaker costs AED 599 including the recipe book. Available at all major hypermarkets across the UAE – from Wednesday November 7th. And don’t forget to also like Philips’ Middle East Facebook page here.
Good luck and a bientôt!

I love Cream of Mushroom Soup !
Miso Soup
Potato and leek soup with Saffron
I only eat home made soups and having thought about it for a while I’ve narrowed it down to Roasted Onion & White Bean, Turkish style lentil and Gazpacho. I think the latter just takes the lead, provided you add a good splash of sherry just before serving.
My favorite would be spicy pumpkin and white bean soup.
I live in the UK so I know that I can’t win, regardless, I wanted to say my two favourite homemade soups are Thai-inspired chicken (based on a Nigel Slater recipe, but with added ingredients) and Cypriot avgolemono soup (egg and lemon – sounds weird, tastes out-of-this-world!)
French Onion
