Celebrity chefs and food authors galore at LitFest

Giorgio Locatelli

Giorgio Locatelli

Dubai; You may not associate Dubai’s so called LitFest, officially known as the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature with food, but next week we have six chefs and authors in town who are set to regale us with foodie tales and in some cases cook too. So FooDiva Friends, here’s why you need to get yourselves down to Intercontinental Dubai Festival City next week (March 6th-10th).

The foodie panel session that’s caught FooDiva’s beady eye is with Italian Michelin-star celebrity chef, Giorgio Locatelli (of Ronda Locatelli fame at Atlantis the Palm), the charismatic Palestinian chef and cookbook writer based in Dubai, Suzanne Husseini, and Egyptian-Chinese Bobby Chinn, the TV chef and restaurateur in Vietnam. A combination of Asian, Arabic and Italian will make for sizzling conversation am sure.

If you fancy more of Bobby, head to the Asian station at Intercontinental’s Anise restaurant over the evenings of March 8th to 10th to savour his Vietnamese creations, meet the man himself, and buy a signed copy of his book.

Ariana Bundy

Ariana Bundy

Cookery writers Ariana Bundy and Josceline Dimbleby will host ‘The Literary Tea: A Foodie Love Affair’ – an afternoon tea combining concoctions made from their recipes with an opportunity to hear more about their culinary lives and love affair with Persia. March 10th 4.30-6pm. AED 120. Ariana who is American-Iranian will also launch her latest cookbook ‘Pomegranate & Roses’, a collection of Persian family recipes at a cooking demo. March 9th 1.30-2.30pm. AED 65.

And last but not least, if you’re a mama or papa, UK children’s food expert, Annabel Karmel will talk about her career creating fun and healthy food for kids. March 9th 6-7pm. AED 65.

Tickets can be purchased online via the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature website. www.emirateslitfest.com

So take your pick and I hope to see you there. Drop me a comment with any questions you’d like me to ask the foodie experts.

Oh and happy March everyone :).

A bientôt!

I’m booked for the foodie panel and Ariana’s demo. You’ve done a good job of making this clearer (the website is not that simple). The demos are always fun. I wouldn’t miss my absolute favourite, Giorgio Locatelli, for the world – he’s incredible (as readers of my blog will know!). I hear fabulous things about Bobby Chinn too.

Quite true Sally. I was never a fan of Locatelli until I interviewed him – can’t wait to see him in action again. See you there :).

I agree. Locatelli is good-simple cooking. I watch Bobby Chinn on FOODNETWORK and I do not like him. Anyway, have fun!!!!!!!

Having lunch with Bobby Chinn on Friday (with a bunch of other foodies) so I’ll let you know what I think of him!

I’d love to receive your feedback, so feel free to comment any time.
