Jamie Oliver’s new HomeCooker and Cutting Tower – presented by Philips

Philips and Jamie Oliver HomeCooker and Cutting TowerDubai; Philips is at it again, and this time with Jamie Oliver who has co-designed a new range of rather useful kitchen appliances – starting with the HomeCooker and Cutting Tower. Take a peek here at Jamie showing it off and then read on as we’re giving one pair away!

It’s the first-of-its-kind – a multi-functional device that preps food, as well as cooks – chopping, melting, stirring, simmering, steaming, boiling, sautéing and frying. The only thing it doesn’t do from what I can tell is grill! Best bit is, the HomeCooker can be left unattended (even for risotto), allowing you to busy yourself with other things – mainly thanks to the auto-stir function, a key feature that differentiates it from other kitchen appliances.

So how else does this contraption differ?

  • The vast temperature gauge, from 40 to 250C.
  • With the accompanying Cutting Tower, you can chop produce directly into the cooking vessels using five different cutting blades for fine grating, coarse grating, thick slicing, thin slicing and julienne strips.
  • Every single part is dishwasher proof.

Jamie Oliver Philips risottoPlug the HomeCooker in, switch on, set the temperature and required cooking time. Once the red light stops flashing, you’re ready to start cooking using the four layers of vessels individually or all together – the main saucepan with add-on stirrer in the middle, pasta insert, steaming basket for small ingredients, and steaming tray for delicate foods like fish.

The beauty of the all singing and dancing HomeCooker is that complicated, time-consuming dishes become swifter and stress-free from curries, risottos, stews and soups to braised dishes, sauces, desserts and even breakfast.

Steamed Asian sea bass a la Jamie Oliver and Philips HomeCookerRisotto Primavera a la Jamie Oliver and Philips HomeCookerTo make it even easier, Jamie Oliver has compiled a recipe book with some of his favourite recipes and step-by-step instructions for using the HomeCooker. I’ve tried my hand at classics like English fry-up and tagliatelle bolognese to risottos – primavera and a butternut squash with sage – as well as steamed Asian sea bass with rice. My only qualm is the presence of the stirring cone makes it a tad tricky to dish out food on plates or a serving dish. Otherwise, it really takes the pressure off in the kitchen and allows you to get on with chores or socialise with friends and family, whilst your food is cooking away.

FooDiva Friends in Dubai, we have one Philips HomeCooker with Cutting Tower, Jamie Oliver recipe book and apron to give away – all you need to do is tell us what you would cook using as many of the HomeCooker’s functionalities as possible. 12. Maura March 24, 2013 at 2:15 pm

I love the Jamie Oliver HomeCooker & Cutting Tower by Philips, I saw it at Taste of Dubai and was very impressed by this unique, multi-functional device, that gives you complete flexibility to prepare fresh homemade meals. I would love to have one to the pressure off in the kitchen on my many busy days.

I would love to cook a risotto (maybe a broad bean and asparagus risotto) with this HomeCooker, as I love to eat risottos but always have difficulty in making them.

  13. Jo Alfred March 24, 2013 at 3:34 pm

I would love to make my very first Paella with the help of the Phillips HomeCooker and Cutting Tower. I love this dish but could never ever bother to prepare it until I saw how easily it could be prepared with the help of the HomeCooker and Cutting Tower! Fingers crossed.

  14. Kamla March 24, 2013 at 6:21 pm

I would like to cook Penne Arabiatta with steamed spinach in the Homecooker. It would be pretty quick and easy with this cool gadget 🙂

  15. Minna March 24, 2013 at 7:58 pm

I can see myself preparing meat tagines and chicken curries with Philips HomeCooker and lovely veggie slaws with cutting Tower. But what I would really like to try is risotto, I am always worried about stirring and adding liquid to extend that I rather skip making risottos. This seem to be a modern world pressure cooker, less scary though. 🙂

  16. Mafaza March 24, 2013 at 11:38 pm

Wow this seems really awesome. I would be cooking my Asian style traditional rice, dhal, spicy fish curry with some sautéed brinjals all at the same time in this great home cooker? I can also cut my brinjals using the cutting tower. Sauté the onions using the sautéing small pan. Dinner would be ready with pittu steaming in one level, egg gravy in the other along side my sooji porridge and a watalappam dessert steaming in the middle. Wow that’s good news.

  17. Nasreen Abdulla March 25, 2013 at 6:16 am

I’d love to cook some fried rice, pav bhaji and baby pasta- hiding in it as many veggies as I can for my fussy little toddler to eat. The Philips HomeCooker sounds like a dream product that would free up my time so that I can paint and draw pictures with my little girl without having to rush into the kitchen every now and then to stir or sautee 🙂

  18. Shameem Nachiya March 26, 2013 at 10:54 am

I would like to cook my favourite dish “Chettinad Chicken Curry”.

  19. Lesley Cully March 26, 2013 at 3:18 pm

I would cook a Burmese dish from my new recipe book I have bought but been too daunted to try!

  20. D Cross March 26, 2013 at 3:45 pm

I also saw this at taste Dubai. I love cooking for my friends and this is the MUST HAVE gadget. WANT!!!

  21. Stacy March 26, 2013 at 7:00 pm

Since the Home Cooker can tolerate such high temperatures, I would love to try making a roux for gumbo in it. Gumbo roux requires lots of stirring to make sure it doesn’t burn so right now, everyone in the family has to take a turn till it reaches the right dark brown. With this handy machine, we could sit around and drink red wine and watch it stir. 🙂 And the cutting tower could prep the onions, bell pepper and celery that are needed when the roux is done. Gumbo would be so easy!!

  22. Anita Jashnani March 29, 2013 at 12:15 pm

I’d like to try making vegetable biryani in this. I’ve always found it a bit intimidating as it has so many ingredients and there are so many steps to follow, but with the homecooker, I should be able master it 🙂

  23. Zeinab March 30, 2013 at 1:06 pm

I am about to introduce my baby to solids so this HomeCooker would be absolutely great. I would make steamed veggies and fruits and use the chopping tower to finely chop and even puree the dishes making for a very tasty meal for my little one. Steamed brocolli, pureed pumpkin and applesauce are some of the dishes I could make.

  24. amrita jawahar March 30, 2013 at 1:17 pm

  25. Theresa Tsui March 30, 2013 at 1:27 pm

even though its pretty much hot all year round in Dubai I am a real fan of winter-style comfort, slow-cooked food like casseroles, curries and stews.

I also love DIY tabouleh (basic tabouleh and chuck your favourite toppings in such as avocado, grilled chicken etc) and hand-chopping everything gets really tedious not to mention time-consuming. I think this would revolutionise my tabouleh skills.

  26. Siddiqui March 31, 2013 at 1:11 am

I’d like to try cooking achari chicken and carrot halwa in the HomeCooker. Seems like an interesting appliance!

I’m gonna make a yummy Tom Yum Goong.

  28. Ritu Sobhraj March 31, 2013 at 6:28 pm

I would like to make Koshari in this. It’s pretty easy, but in the homecooker, I can prepare all the different parts to the dish simultaneously, saving a lot of time!

  29. Linsey Pereira April 1, 2013 at 3:59 pm

The first time I saw the Philips HomeCooker with Cutting Tower at the taste of Dubai, I was in love with it..and knew that this should be a new member in the my home…So wish to use it for my dialy use in trying out various gravies…I love experimenting with food and the styles I cook so this would be a super star in my home….but the first thing I would use it for is for making, my Favorite Mummy-li-cious Corriander Chicken Curry (Thats what my daughter calls the dish that I make specially for her)

  33. Jackson April 2, 2013 at 8:18 pm

I am going to make Umm Ali.

  34. Kavitha April 4, 2013 at 11:00 am

I miss entertaining my friends in my home mainly because I am usually knackered after a 10 hour work day. If I had the homecooker, I would love to have them all over for an after work dinner and make simple but healthy food. I would make some of our faves – a chorizo frito (in the cooker) that can keep stirring the chorizo with julienned (chopper) fried onions to top it off, also make patatas bravas, a smoked duck salad and steamed fish and veggies to end the meal. The chopper would help me prep for the meal.

This device will help me and my friends come together over what we all love the most – food and each other.

  35. Hannah Joji April 5, 2013 at 8:14 am

As a foodie, I was so impressed to see this multifunction kitchen device Jamie’s Oliver HomeCooker & Cutting Tower by Philips at the Taste of Dubai.A one-pot cooking system which is a cross between a food processor and cooker which I have never come across any where. The best part is that this Home Cooker can do both slow cooking at low temperatures and be turned up to 250C to do faster frying. Sometimes I have uninvited guests who just pop in few hours before lunch or dinner. This Multifunction device can help me do things zip zap zoom. The dish i would love to make is Spinach Risotto which is a healthy dish and other cumbersome Recipes.I can try out other cumbersome recipes and voila the dishes will be ready in minutes of time. I also liked the way a number of pots that can be layered on top of each other. The chopping tower which will help me easily grate and slice food straight into the pot. This will help me chop vegetables while I cook. I can then make my favorite tabbouleh salad using the chopper. It will help me chop the ingredients needed for the dish faster. I can have healthy food and I will make sure that my guests leave with a smile on their face with a healthy appetite. Bon Appetite!

  36. Hannah Joji April 5, 2013 at 8:33 am

oops, so sorry fooDiva, I forgot to add an important point… a stirrer that is in the middle of the home cooker will help me mix up my ingredients as they cook, and best thing is that it can be timed to complete whatever dish i am cooking. I can steam my favorite healthy vegetables and this will help me shed some extra pounds that i have gained. Basically, Using the Jamie Oliver home cooker and the cutting tower, I can steam, chop, mix and cook healthy food in a slow mode or in a fast mode. The food also will remain warm in the home cooker. Honestly, I have fallen in love with Jamie Oliver’s Philips Home Cooker with Cutting Tower.

  37. Ritu April 5, 2013 at 9:44 am

WOW, What a great innovative and very useful product, I think it’s a must for every kitchen, being a Food Blogger; I used to cook variety of cuisine, so for me it’s a magic wand. This multi-functional device that preps food, as well as cooks with auto-stir function, will make my life Fuss free, My Blog name is FUSS FREE COOKING, and this Home cooker with Cutting Tower is really great helpful device for my Kitchen. This is the product which I was looking for so many years. I would love to win this for my passion of cooking.

I’d like to make porcini mushroom risotto in the Homecooker.

  39. KS Hussain April 8, 2013 at 3:37 pm

I saw this in the Taste of Dubai event and ever since then, its in my wishlist. I keep bringing this up with my husband hoping he’ll consider getting me one for my birthday. 🙂

I would love to try my personal favorite “Cauliflower with Béchamel Sauce” with this brilliant Phillips Home Cooker.

I can boil the cauliflower florets using the steamer function of the Phillips Home Cooker. Making the bechamel sauce that needs careful stirring would be really easy thanks to the stirrer function of the home cooker. Honestly I personally love the stirrer attachment of the home cooker, because its a time saver and something we ALL needed! esp when we are multitasking in the kitchen.

Thank you for this giveaway 🙂

The vegetables can be steamed in the steaming compartment and as a side dish, I could make the cabbage soup. yum!
